Sterling Silver and Leather Necklace

The silver has been textured and oxidized to give this piece and old world/industrial feel.

This is an amazing piece. I have been watching your development for months an dI am inspired. Do you take classes or did you take classes? What type would you recommend if I am really interested in metal work like what you have shown here. Right now I do a little wire wrapping and a lot if stringing.

Hi Kameela! I did take a short silver smith class this winter, I learned how to calculate out and make bezel settings, How to use a claw setting, sweat soldering and a few other useful things, but for the most part I read books and just play with the materials.
A few of my fave books are

Making Metal Jewelry: Projects, Techniques, Inspiration

Jewelry Two Books In One: Projects To Practice & Inspire * Techniques to Adapt to Suit Your Own Designs

I also rented a few Tim McCreight videos (and many jewelry making books) from our local library.

I hope this helps!
